The Education Committee is a group of teachers and academics. Membership of the Committee and its meetings are open to any interested teacher. The Committee meets monthly after school on the second Tuesday of each month at 5.00 – 7.00pm, to work for physics in the following areas:

  • Liaising with VCAA on curriculum matters
  • Distributing an email newsletter to physics teachers several times each term
  • Preparing a written review of the June and November VCE Physics Exams
  • Liaising with STAV on professional development matters
  • Planning the Physics Teachers Conference in association with STAV
  • Running professional development activities on the Synchrotron and Medical Physics
  • Organising physics promotional activities for students, such as Switch On To Physics program, VCE Physics Days at Luna Park and the Photonics program at Swinburne University
  • Distributing Physics material such as the Transistor kit, the Bragg Diffraction kit, the Synchrotron CDROM and Physics Careers DVD "Physics as a Life Skill"
  • Surveying physics teachers on their qualifications, teaching experience and retirement plans
  • Undertaking research on student participation in Physics across Australia, tertiary course selection by VCE Physics students and subject selection of science and maths subjects at the secondary VCE level
  • Administering www.vicphysics.org
  • Advising the Victorian Branch and the Federal Branch of the AIP on educational matters
