Where to With Physics?

Where To With Physics is a website for secondary students.

What does it do?

  • It helps you identify your attributes in three areas: How I Work, How I think and How I am with others
  • links these attributes to various roles in STEM careers such as exploring, researching, communicating, innovating, etc.
  • gives examples of careers where these job roles are important and finally
  • provides profiles of individuals with similar attributes to yourself. The profiles include details of the work they do, What they did at school and university, and how their career has developed.

There is also an extensive list of other online resources on careers in STEM.
The Vicphysics Teachers’ Network received a grant from the Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) as part of DET’s Connecting Learning to Work Project. The purpose of the Connecting Learning to Work grant was the development of resources for teachers and careers practitioners to enrich their existing teaching and learning programs for students through appropriate teaching and learning strategies that highlight (to students and parents) the connection between students’ learning and future work.

These resources are designed to complement the Girls in Physics Breakfasts program organised by Vicphysics. Each Breakfast in the program features careers-focussed activities. The funding for this project was to produce profiles of Victorian women and men working in STEM and present them in an online format.

Vicphysics encourages teachers to promote ‘Where to with Physics’ to students in Years 9 and 10 and to let the careers teacher at your school know about this resource.
