These are events from recent years that Vicphysics organised but are not being repeated in 2025.
PHYSCON 2024 The 2024 Physics Teachers’ Conference, which was held at Swinburne University in February. The program can be downloaded, but you will need to register to access materials.
PD on SACs in June was held in June 2024 in the first year of the revised study design in which the specifications of the assessment tasks were significantly more detailed. The purpose of the PD was for teachers to share their experiences of designing the first two or three assessment tasks for the year so that they could improve their design for the remaining tasks.
Units 1 and 2 Course Planning Day held in November 2022 prior to the introduction in 2023 of the revised Study Design in Year 11. The resources prepared for the day as well as the reports of the discussion groups can be downloaded.
Units 3 and 4 Course Planning Day held in November 2023 prior to the introduction in 2024 of the revised Study Design in Year 12. A description of the program along with a link to the resources provided on the day and produced by the discussion groups.
Workshops for Lab Techs on Years 7 – 10 Physics. This program was run annually until 2024. A different format is being considered for 2025. Worksheets and handouts can be downloaded.
Prac Activities Fair for VCE Physics was scheduled to be run in 2024, but did not proceed due to insufficient numbers. The possibility of rescheduling in 2025 is being considered.
Prac Workshop on Years 9 – 10 Physics The event was planned for 2021, but was cancelled due to COVID restrictions. It has not been looked at since.
Beginning Physics Teachers 2020 Webinar This was to be an in-person event which was transferred to an online event due to COVID.
Victorian Young Physicists’ Tournament (VYPT) is a competition for secondary students in which as a team of three they experimentally investigate a common et of three topics, then later in the year compete is a series of contest in which the present their findings for each topic as well as challenging the presentations of other teams. The event has not run for a few years due to insufficient schools being involved to make the event viable.
